Founded in 1988 and located in Oranjestad, the University of Aruba is a cornerstone of higher education in the Dutch Caribbean. With its commitment to cultivating regional expertise and promoting innovation across disciplines, including law, economics, education, and technology, the university is steadily expanding its research footprint.
A brand new repository
Recognizing the importance of providing open access to scholarly work, the University of Aruba partnered with Atmire to implement a reliable, professionally managed repository platform. With Open Repository, UA benefits from a ready-to-use DSpace environment that is maintained, supported, and updated by the Atmire team, allowing institutional staff to focus on curating and promoting content, rather than managing infrastructure.
The repository provides a sustainable foundation for the university’s growing research activity and positions UA to share its knowledge with a global audience.
At Aruba University we are excited about the possibilities to share our research more openly with the Aruban Community and the world via the Open Knowledge Repository! The open source focus of Atmire, and the availability of experts for further support, makes it a natural and great collaboration partner for our smaller scaled University. We are keen on continuing the collaboration to make our research more accessible!

Highlighting research talent with author profiles
To celebrate the individuals behind the research, the repository features Person/Author Profiles, a powerful way to showcase each researcher’s contributions. These dedicated profile pages include biographical information, institutional affiliations, and a complete list of publications, helping to build academic reputation and foster collaboration both locally and internationally.

Single Sign-On (SSO) integration
As part of the repository launch, Single Sign-On (SSO) functionality was configured, enabling effortless access for UA faculty and students. With SSO in place, users can log in securely using their university credentials, enhancing both convenience and security.
With this launch, the University of Aruba takes a meaningful step in strengthening its research infrastructure and ensuring that its scholarly work is discoverable, accessible, and preserved for the future.
We’re proud to support UA on this journey and look forward to seeing the repository grow as a vital part of the university’s academic landscape.
